Sydney Australia is current going through a construction boom. If fact much of the growth has been spurred on by growth in the mining sector in Western Australia.

There are currently many jobs in the Sydney area, however before moving to one of the most expensive cities in the world it is a good idea to try and establish contacts before moving.

There are a few options open to job seekers before moving:

1) Contact construction recruitment job agency companies and send over your CV at least 3 month before moving.
2) Call companies directly
3) Apply for jobs directly on the company websites.
4) Establish contact on websites such as gumtree and craigs list.
5) Ask family and friends if there are they know anyone who currently lives in the Sydney area to help with the jobsearch.

In addition it is extremely important to try and get accommodation lined up before moving there. The Rental market in Australia is extremely overheated in the big cities making in really difficult to find quality accommodation. Even if you are planning on sharing a house and small one bedroom can cost in the region of $300 AUD per month minimum so make sure you have enough savings before you leave. There is also the short term of staying in Hostels, however book at least three days in advance to ensure you have place to stay.
